Derby's Street Lighting PFI Contract
Hayes Avenue, Littleover
In 1997, only three columns existed on this road, according to inventory records that were last updated at this time.
Seq. No. | Lamp Number | Location | Lamp Type | Watt | Isolation Point |
1 | 28761 | O/S 7/9 | SXPL1 | 35 | |
2 | 28762 | O/S 20/22 | SXPL1 | 35 | |
3 | 28763 | O/S 31/33 | SXPL1 | 35 |
The following photographs were taken on Tuesday, 2nd May 2017.
Three additional columns had been installed along this short cul-de-sac since the above records were produced; these are DY2209, DY2210 and DY2211. At the same time, columns 28762 and 28763 were renewed; the new columns all being 5 m in height and supporting Thorn Beta 5 35 Watt SOX lanterns. The fact that these columns were relatively new was probably what saved them from being replaced under the intensive mass-replacement programme in the early years of the PFI.
Oddly, column 28761 (the first column on the street prior to the additional columns being installed) was not replaced as part of these works. Being of shorter overall height and fitted with a swan neck bracket and top-entry Beta 5 lantern, this installation was somewhat incongruous with the rest of the lighting along the road.
