Derby's Street Lighting PFI Contract
Horwood Avenue, Littleover
The lighting along this road consisted of 6 m tubular steel columns supporting 1980s' Thorn Beta 2 55 Watt SOX lanterns; no lantern or column changes had occurred since the below inventory records were last used officially, in 1997.

The following photographs were taken on Saturday, 19th September, and Monday, 28th September 2015.
One of the columns installed along this road can be seen in the picture below; all of the installations are identical in appearance to this.
A Royce Thompson Monostar 1000 photocell is fitted here.
A few further installations are visible beyond the slight bend in the road.
In the early 2000s, the lantern fitted to the column on the right lost its bowl. This didn't appear to have any particularly detrimental effect on the lantern, although the outer bulb of the SOX lamp did blacken. Seeing as this can occur in lanterns with intact bowls, it was probably just a coincidence.
Today, a new bowl and lamp are fitted, and a Royce Thompson SC1000 photocell switches the lantern on and off as required.
