Derby's Street Lighting PFI Contract
Penrith Place, Chaddesden
The column being removed on this road was:
Seq. No. | Lamp Number | Location | Lamp Type | Watt | Isolation Point |
1 | 33047 | B/W 7/8 | SXPL2 | 35 |
The following photographs were taken on Sunday, 26th September 2010.
A single (and very poorly placed) sleeved Stanton 7 concrete column was removed from this road. Two 6 m tubular steel columns in far more suitable locations replaced it.
The outgoing column supported a Thorn Beta 5 35 Watt SOX lantern. With the column positioned at the end of the road, most of the lantern's light output would have been confined to lighting the turning area, and little else. Therefore, the replacement column was positioned perpendicular to its outgoing equivalent.
If I didn't know better, I'd swear that I'd caught these lanterns having an idle natter to each other!
