Most of the outgoing road lanterns along here would have replaced Thorn Beta 7s running 80 Watt MBF in the mid 1990s. The following photographs were taken on Sunday, 28th March 2010.
This Philips MI 26 was fitted to a type of column that was more readily seen with a GEC Z9532 attached.
The original column 34198 on the footpath was replaced at some point - the footpath reinstatement around the base was still visible.
Around the corner was another 5 m mid-hinged column supporting a Thorn Beta 5. An anti-glare shield was fitted behind this lantern, however, I cannot see what purpose this serves as there are no properties behind the column! All that is behind the column is a cutting that was once the Mickleover railway line (later used as a test track for British Rail's Research Division), though the tracks were lifted and the land turned into a footpath in 1990, and this installation, and the anti-glare shield, are newer than this.
