Local GEC Z5699s
I did not realise that there were any Z5699s in the Derby area until Thursday, 27th July 2006 when I went on a guided walk around the City Centre. The example spotted was on the riverside footpath behind housing on Duke Street. I would think that it dated from about the same time that the Z5698Us around the city were installed.
(Possibly) Derby's only Z5699 was dayburning when I photographed it. A 70 Watt SON-E lamp is fitted.
Shortly after this photograph was taken, the lantern was removed due to the dayburning. New CCTV cameras (one is visible in the background) were fitted to the same cable as the lighting and of course needed to be running permanently. The cable was originally group-switched from elsewhere. Fortunately this lantern was saved and is now in my collection.
