Local CU Phosco P852Ks

The 'updated' version of the P852 began to appear in Derbyshire in mid-2021, although only on new housing developments at this time; the standard P852 continuing to be used for everyday replacement work on minor roads.

This example is one of several that were installed on a housing development off Sheffield Road, Chesterfield.

The biggest change that was introduced with the P852K was the move to make the lantern's top section hinge forward, in order to gain access to the internal wiring (the P852 features a removable panel that serves the same purpose), with integrated clips holding the top to the (fixed) lower section in normal use - a trait shared with the P86# main road range.

The P852K is also marginally wider overall, with webbing being added to bridge the inner and outer parts of the two long air gaps located either side of the LED array.

The array itself appears to be unchanged.

These particular columns are six metres in height.

Zodion SS6 photocells rated at 20 Lux provide the automatic switching for these lanterns.

An extension to Starflower Way in Mickleover transitioned between the Derby City and South Derbyshire boundaries; P852Ks attached to 8 m columns were employed to light the section of road that fell into the latter area.

These examples use Zodion ZCell^LED photocells, again rated at 20 Lux.

Owing to the increased mounting height, these P852Ks accommodate 24 LEDs.

Unlike the Chesterfield examples, these P852Ks have labels attached that provide the specification details to those who are interested, and have access to a reasonable zoom lens!

The label informs the casual reader that 4000 K colour temperatures are employed in the LEDs; the driver runs them at 700 mA (with an F02 dimming profile - the standard for Derbyshire), with the nominal power consumption being 49 W. The lantern use S1 - Wide optics.
