Local GEC Z9530s

The Z9530, although used in Derbyshire, did not make a huge impression on the county's streets - the Thorn Beta 5 was always a more popular choice. The Z9530 was mainly used towards the end of the 1970s until the early 1980s, though some examples from the 1960s still exist.

This 1960s Z9530 in Matlock features an aluminium canopy and (presumably) acrylic bowl:

These Z9531s, also in Matlock, use the same type of bowl as the previous example:

Another example in Matlock - this features a newer bowl than the example above. It is ironic that this older design actually looks to be in much better condition than newer examples!

This Z9532 is located on one of the highest parts of Derby - notice parts of the City Centre visible behind. The column has lost its door at some point and a replacement has been fitted.

This is a very rare sight in the City - a wooden pole mounted lantern. Obviously the Z9532 has been used to replace another lantern in the past -although it is looking its age as well now - which is why it will soon be replaced by an Arc mounted to a drop-down column.

Somewhere in the daytime left-hand photograph is a Z9532! This example is mounted to a somewhat angular swan neck - originally an 80 Watt MBF Thorn Beta 7 would have been fitted.
