109DA. Higham Lane, Dodworth, Barnsley, South Yorkshire With thanks to Dwight for informing me of this Survivor. Standing disconnected and abandoned near to its modern replacement is a 1950s' Stanton 7 15 ft (5 m) concrete column, fitted with an A-type swan neck bracket and later (probably, 1970s') GEC Z9533 lantern for 35 Watt SOX (low pressure sodium) lamps - the top-entry version of the Z9532. A replacement column is installed nearby, at a slightly revised position, though why the old column wasn't removed when the new one was installed is a mystery.

The replacement 6 m sheet steel column now supports an OrangeTEK AriaLED, but supported an Urbis Sapphire 1 previously, meaning that the lantern that it was supposed to replace ended up outliving it!

Google Street View imagery confirms that, even by 2009, this installation was redundant. Perhaps surprisingly, despite being disused, the installation is in good condition, with minimal cracking visible, though some slight mineral deposits have formed on the column shaft. Ladder bars were an option with these columns, and are included with this example.

The lantern too is complete, including retaining a lamp. There doesn't appear to be any photocell control fitted, and the lantern may have been group-switched as there is no evidence of a time switch having existed in the base either.

The column's inspection door is missing, revealing a rather empty base. The supply cut-out is hanging loose on the lantern supply cable, and there are no witness marks on the backboard to suggest that any other components were ever fitted.
