109DB. Hexthorpe Road, Doncaster, South Yorkshire With thanks to Dwight for informing me of this Survivor. Located at the entrance to the Wabtec Railway Engineering site (formerly, Doncaster Works - the birthplace of the legendary Flying Scotsman steam locomotive) is a 25 ft (8 m) Stanton 8 column, with a D-type cranked bracket and GEC Z9554M lantern, for 135 Watt SOX (low pressure sodium) lamps. Google Street View imagery confirms that (at least) one other identical installation existed within the works, although by September 2014, the bracket had been removed, and the column appeared slightly truncated. Another Stanton 8 column survives just outside the works, although this has been sleeved. It too may have carried a similar setup prior to the sleeving, though possibly with a different lantern fitted, as I suspect that the Z9554Ms would have been replacements for earlier lanterns.
The mounting height is a little low for the Z9554M; hence, why it appears slightly out of proportion here.
The bracket is beginning to fail at its joint with the column. A small twist of wire seems to be wrapped around this section.
Although a lamp is fitted, the lantern interior looks filthy (I don't think that this is the result of the lamp's outer bulb having blackened), and the GRP canopy has become ingrained with moss.
