109H. Conistone Lane, Kettlewell, Upper Wharfedale, North Yorkshire With thanks to Dwight for informing me of this Survivor. Located a short distance from the main village centre is a 1960s' ELECO 'ELECOSlim 848' 15 ft (5 m) concrete column topped with a swan neck bracket, which supports an HW-852 lantern, also made by ELECO. The reason for the installation's retention into May 2024 could be that it appears to be in private ownership - possibly, by the local Parish Council, as the lamp fitted is a Philips SL domestic compact fluorescent - a lamp that is not used commonly for street lighting purposes.
As this installation is on an otherwise unlit section of road, surrounded by rolling hills and no other settlements, the SL lamp is probably quite effective at illuminating the surrounding area.
The lantern has been converted to photocell operation by attaching a Zodion wall bracket and SS4D control to the vertical edge of its canopy. The top edge of the Perspex bowl has clouded slightly, although the majority of it remains transparent.
A small amount of dirt has gathered within the bowl, although as this is minimal, the lantern is probably still maintained, despite the presence of the rather vintage lamp.
An ELECO-branded door remains in position at the column base.
