109K. Sharphaw View, Gargrave, Skipton, North Yorkshire With thanks to Dwight for informing me of this Survivor. Installed facing back towards the main Eshton Road is a 15 ft (5 m) ELECO 'Elecoslim 848' concrete column with a swan neck bracket and GEC Z9539 lantern, which would have run a 35 - 55 Watt SOX (low pressure sodium) lamp originally, but now runs an LED retro-fit lamp instead.

This is the oldest column on the street - a newer Stanton 1805 column, supporting a GEC Z9582 / Siemens SRL 35 is visible in the background.

Owing to the relatively tight curve of the swan neck bracket, a spacer has been fitted between the end of the bracket and the lantern, in order to provide sufficient clearance when rotating the Z9539 into position. The lantern is positioned the wrong way around, technically, as the bowl clip should be positioned facing backwards; however, again, because of the swan neck, if the lantern were installed correctly, the bowl wouldn't be able to open fully.

Although the underside of the bowl is in need of a clean, the LED lamp can be seen within it. Curiously, this looks to be even shorter than a 35 Watt SOX lamp would be, and only just manages to reach the lamp support.

The 848-type concrete column is identified by its flat door - all other 15 ft ELECO concrete columns had octagonal bases, with doors matching the profile.
