111F. Two Gates Industrial Estate, Tamworth, Staffordshire With thanks to Dwight for informing me of this Survivor. Situated towards the back of the Industrial Estate is a Stanton 10 15 ft (5 m) concrete column with a short curved side-entry bracket, and GEC Z8896 lantern, for 80 - 125 Watt MBF (mercury vapour) lamps. A second column, a Stanton 1805 type, supporting a Simplex Diadem, at the Industrial Estate's junction with Watling Street, was still extant in June 2023, but had been removed by the time that these pictures were taken, in September 2024 - it had been leaning quite noticeably for a few years prior to this.
With the removal of the 1805 column, this is the only lighting column to remain on the whole Industrial Estate. Many of the businesses have their own wall-mounted lighting, however, so the Z8896 may not be operational after nightfall.
Even if it did still work, the discoloured polycarbonate bowl would reduce the lamp's effectiveness quite substantially. The top section of the column, immediately beneath the bracket, is spalled heavily.
