113DA. Glebe Road / Glebe Way, Cogenhoe, Northamptonshire With thanks to Dwight for informing me of these Survivors. Installed on both highlighted roads on this small housing estate are Stanton 10A 15 ft (5 m) concrete columns supporting top-entry Thorn Beta 5 lanterns. Although the Beta 5 was designed for running 35 Watt SOX lamps, all of these examples now run Venture 'Re-SOX' LED lamps instead, owing to the obsolescence of the low pressure sodium product. While this is a shame, it does ensure that the installations should remain extant along these roads for many years into the future, particularly as the A-type version of the Stanton 10 column (i.e. fitted with a swan neck bracket) is especially uncommon.

The first pictured example is on the relatively sharp first bend on Glebe Road. The electricity cable for one of the properties in this area was installed in December 1968, which may give an approximate age to the columns.

What looks to be an early 1990s' Fisher-Karpark SS5 photocell still switches the lantern, as required.

This example is to be found towards the end of Glebe Way.

Another 1990s' photocell; this time, a Hy-Lite product, is fitted.

The installations are all in excellent condition, with no visible spalling existing between the columns or brackets at all. The lanterns would benefit from having their bowls cleaned out, however - this example is exhibiting signs of water ingress, which was a common problem with Beta 5s of this era.
