113DH. School Lane / Griffin Road, Braybrooke, Northamptonshire With thanks to Dwight for informing me of these Survivors. In something of a continuation of the installations seen on the previous page, a small number of mercury vapour (MBF) lanterns continued to operate in nightly service in this village in May 2024, with two of these being AC Ford AC 888s, and another being an ELECO HW-918.

The two AC 888s are attached to 15 ft (5 m) Stanton 10 concrete columns using A-type (swan neck) brackets; this is the School Lane example.

Some marks left over from the moulding process are visible within the concrete of the swan neck.

The round-bottomed bowl is of the same type as the one that was supplied with my 1973 Fordac AC 850 lantern is; therefore, this lantern may be of a similar age.

The photocell fitted here is the 20 mm connector version of the SELC 841.

Unlike the earlier 7-type column range that Stanton produced, ladder bars were not an option with the 10-type range.

Viewing the lantern from below reveals damage to the bowl.

A second, identical installation exists on Griffin Road, along with the installation running the HW-918. Here, the column is a Byway 'X' design with 15 degree bracket, made by Concrete Utilities.

The so-called 'Cabulite' (polycarbonate) bowl is employed here, with the combination of its patterning and UV discolouration justifying the "toffee" nickname quite reasonably!
