113DG. Scott Close, Ravensthorpe, Northamptonshire With thanks to Dwight for informing me of these Survivors. Two of the installations on this short cul-de-sac comprise Stanton 10A 15 ft (5 m) concrete columns supporting AC Ford AC 888 lanterns - these being the top-entry version of the AC 850. The lanterns are likely to run 80 Watt mercury vapour (MBF) lamps, making them especially rare in November 2023, when the pictures below were taken.

This installation is the first to be seen from the High Street.

A feature of the AC 888 is the small connecting enclosure that is situated above the main lantern.

The photocell fitted here is the 20 mm connector version of the SELC 841.

Unusually for the era when these columns were installed, the inspection doors are positioned to face away from oncoming traffic. This allows anyone working on the base to see any potential hazards approaching, and (if necessary) move to a place of safety, although installing the columns in this way tends to be more of a modern requirement.

The swan neck brackets are immaculate, with no visible signs of spalling being present at the point at which they meet with the column.

As is typical, the polycarbonate lantern bowls have discoloured during their lifetimes.
