118A. Lutterworth Road, Pailton, Warwickshire With thanks to Dwight for informing me of this Survivor. Situated opposite Brookside Avenue is a wooden pole supporting a short AC Ford bracket and GEC 'Clearside' Z5580B lantern. Formerly, the pole also supported overhead electricity conductors, but following the installation of new underground cabling, the overheads were abandoned. Surprisingly, the pole was not replaced with a new column as part of these works (as occurred to the next pole up the road), although this has allowed the Z5580B to continue lighting this portion of Lutterworth Road into 2023.

The pole's height remains what it was when the overheads were installed - it wasn't cut down to a point just above the bracket, as will often happen in similar scenarios.

The Z5580B is fitted with a Z6606 glass refractor bowl.

The cable encased in plastic capping serves as the replacement means of supplying this installation.

A Royce Thompson P42 two-part photocell detector emerges from the front of the lantern, partially obscuring (in fact, drilled through - grr!) the GEC logo in the process.

The lantern looks rather diminutive when viewed from the ground.

The lantern's current lamp type is unknown; it may still run an 80 Watt mercury vapour (MBF) lamp.

Viewing the installation from below reveals that the bracket has been installed at a slightly offset position in relation to the fuse / control gear box. The GRP-made GEC-Henley service cut-out has developed the same rough appearance that GRP-canopied lanterns feature after years of outdoor use.
