118B. Main Street, Stretton-under-Fosse, Rugby, Warwickshire With thanks to Dwight for informing me of these Survivors. Still extant along this road in December 2023 are three CU Phosco P282 top-entry 35 Watt SOX (low pressure sodium) lanterns, with one being attached to a building; the other two being fitted to brackets that take advantage of the wooden poles used in supporting the overhead telephone cabling.

The first installation pictured is the wall-mounted example.

The P282 will have served as a replacement to whatever the original lantern was on this Revo bracket.

The angular bowl is shared with sister lanterns the P223 and P225.

The first of the pole-mounted lanterns is situated a little further up the road.

The original porcelain fused cut-out (housed within the bracket's integrated fuse / time switch box has been replaced with a plastic Lucy type, installed remotely, at some point - as the lantern uses a Royce Thompson P42 two-part photocell, the relay unit for this is probably housed within the old box, preventing the replacement cut-out from being accommodated in there. A rather Heath-Robinson method of ensuring that the bracket has an electrical earth is employed.

Unusually for SOX lanterns, the polycarbonate bowls on all three examples have discoloured quite substantially.

The final example is located across the road, on Farriers Court, complete with an insecure supply cable.

A completely different style of top-entry bracket exists here.

I am uncertain as to whether the canopies were painted red as a top coat, or whether this is a primer that has become visible through a grey / silver top coat wearing away.

The fuse box cover here carries Wardle branding.
