164AC. Station Road / Glebe Estate, Wilmcote, Warwickshire With thanks to Dwight for informing me of these Survivors. Situated on both of these roads are lanterns designed for running 80 Watt MBF (mercury vapour) lamps, still soldiering on in January 2024. The example on Station Road is an AC Ford AC850 attached to a wooden pole, whereas a GEC Z8896 is in use on Glebe Estate.
Although not visible, owing to the pole being covered in ivy, the bracket supporting the AC850 is also an AC Ford product, with a branded fuse box at the pole end of the bracket.
A Zodion photocell is attached to the AC 850's canopy.
The Z8896, meanwhile, is attached to a 15 ft (5 m) 'Byway-X' column made by Concrete Utilities.
A short section of the inner bracket pipe is exposed between the concrete and the lantern.
As is to be expected, the polycarbonate bowls on both lanterns are discoloured from the UV exposure generated by the lamp over the years.
