170HA. Morrison Court, Kibworth Beauchamp, Leicestershire With thanks to Dwight for informing me of these Survivors. Located near the junction of Home Close are two 5 m tubular British Steel columns with angular brackets and Davis / ELECO GR 501 lanterns running 35 Watt SOX (low pressure sodium) lamps. Any SOX stock in Leicestershire was a rarity by 2024, with most having been swapped for LED equivalents; often, using the same column and bracket initially, prior to complete column replacement (swapping the LED lantern over in the process) later, so the fact that these have survived is all the more surprising.
The brackets feature both a vertical and horizontal section, bringing the lantern's overall mounting height to the required 5 m.
The extra length of the GR 501 allows for 55 Watt lamps to be used, where necessary.
The columns are painted the former light green colour that was common to Leicestershire columns in the past; replacements now are in unpainted galvanised finish.
The horizontal section of the bracket causes the lantern to be positioned at quite a steep angle - probably, one that is quite close to the maximum cap-down position that a SOX lamp can be operated at.
Both lanterns have slightly discoloured Zodion one-part photocells fitted. The bowl clip on this example is insecure.
