180F. Church Walks and Ty-Coch Road, Llandudno, Conwy With thanks to Dwight for informing me of these Survivors. Still extant on these two roads in 2023 are GEC 15 ft (5 m) concrete columns, complete with their original top-entry brackets and Z5560 lanterns, which may continue to run mercury vapour (MBF) lamps. Further, identical, examples also remained on Cwlach Street in October 2022 (including one that had been lit constantly from April 2009 (at least), according to Google Street View), but had been replaced in their entirety by the following July.

The Church Walks example is located outside the Empire Hotel, on the corner of Tan-Yr-Ogof Road.

This retains its original 'acorn' glass bowl.

Apart from being a little grubby, the bowl is intact and undamaged.

The famous Great Orme limestone headland serves as a backdrop to this installation.

Irritatingly, the two-part photocell detector hole is drilled through the 'GEC - Made in England' detail on the front of the canopy. It could have been situated away from this without too much of an issue!

The gentle curve of the bracket complements the lantern nicely.

Fortunately, the GEC logo cast into the column's door remains fully intact.

The Ty-Coch Road example is situated a short distance away from the lower cable-hauled tram terminus on Old Road.

This example's bowl had been replaced; the modern polycarbonate bowl having discoloured over time, owing to the UV rays produced by the combination of the lamp and the sun.

Thankfully, the GEC logo remained intact here.

One reason that may have contributed to this installation remaining is the fact that the road is narrow, with only one way out for motorised traffic - any removal work here would block the road for a couple of hours.

The surrounding buddleia bush made photographing this installation slightly more complicated!

This example's bowl clip has broken, requiring a twist of wire to be inserted into the mechanism, in order to hold the bowl retaining ring closed.

Another Z5560 with a replacement bowl remained on Old Road at the time, though as a new column supporting a TRT Aspect Mini LED lantern has been installed behind it, its time on the road may be drawing to an end.
