193C. Graig Fach, Machynlleth, Powys Situated in a small parking area for a veterinary surgery opposite is a 15 ft (5 m) Stewart & Lloyd tubular steel column with swan neck bracket and GEC Z5590 lantern. Sadly, the installation is abandoned, with the lamp, prismatic glass refractor, and bowl having been removed from the lantern, leaving just the aluminium canopy remaining.

Although difficult to see here, the column is fluted, possibly making it an 'S' type, in Stewart & Lloyd parlance. The positioning of the sign for the surgery must make access to the base compartment difficult.

The installation appears to be have been painted light green in the past, before being painted black (the column, at least) later. The red primer applied to the bracket originally is showing through for much of the swan neck's length.

As a bowl support ring (along with an associated hinge, clip and gasket) are not present, there is a possibility that the lantern was always run without a bowl. The three-pin bayonet lampholder confirms that an 80 or 125 Watt MBF (mercury vapour) lamp was installed originally, however.
