195AA. Holywell Road, Brightside, Sheffield, South Yorkshire Located on a footbridge that passes over the former Brightside Railway Station are two short columns attached to the bridge structure, both of which support GEC Z8260 lanterns for two 2 ft (600 mm) 40 Watt fluorescent lamps - the lantern of choice for many British Rail stations in the past. With the station having closed in 1995, after becoming surplus following the opening of Meadowhall Interchange Station five years earlier, the lanterns may have been abandoned at the same time. Despite this, the footbridge forms part of a public footpath to Station Lane, but no attempt to provide alternative lighting exists.

The more intact of the two Z8260s is positioned alongside the closed-off access to the southbound platform.

A polycarbonate refractor bowl offers some diffusion of the twin fluorescent lamps, which still appear to be intact within the lantern.

The underside of the bowl is devoid of refractors.

The Z8260 situated closest to Holywell Road is damaged, with only its canopy now surviving.

The canopy has twisted on its bracket.

The outer tracks serve as avoiding lines for the station, while the inner tracks are positioned adjacent the former platforms. The platform lighting (comprising GEC Z8526s attached to 8 m tubular steel Abacus base-hinged columns) was still in place in June 2023, but had been removed by August the following year. Notice that the steps in the staircases leading down to the platform have also been removed.
