202K. B1112 The Street, Eriswell, Brandon, Suffolk Attached to a wooden pole by a simple horizontal outreach bracket is a Phosware (CU Phosco) P132 lantern for 80 - 125 Watt MBF (mercury vapour) lamps, which the lantern still appeared to be running in December 2023.
The installation is situated alongside a converted barn that is now used as a Volvo dealership, and its usefulness at illuminating the road is likely to be rather limited, considering the setback that exists between the pole and the carriageway. Additionally, the dealership has its own LED floodlights installed on the building, which will also reduce the effectiveness of the P132.
The P132 features a prismatic glass refractor bowl. Where the lantern uses a transparent Perspex bowl with an internal glass refractor dome, it is known as the P104.
The BILL fused cut-out is attached directly to the wooden pole, rather than being placed in a dedicated enclosure.
The underside of the bowl has two sets of parallel beam refractors, in an attempt to cast the maximum beam possible in the direction of where the carriageway would be.
As the cover is missing from the installation's control gear box, the ballast has become very rusty. No capacitor remains any longer, and the wiring to / from the Telensa radio node is exposed. Judging by the paper-thin sheet of steel at the base of the box, the cover has probably been missing for years.
