209A. Oxford Place, Terrington St Clement, King's Lynn, Norfolk With thanks to Dwight for informing me of these Survivors. Installed on this short cul-de-sac are three 'Leader' aluminium columns, made by AEI (and subsequently, Thorn), with two of these still fitted with their original 'Ashby' / Gamma 8 lanterns. The lanterns are likely to have been modernised internally, however, with their original lamps exchanged for LED retro-fits. Whilst losing the correct lamp types is a shame, at least, the lanterns are able to continue in service indefinitely, despite being around 60 years old at the time of photographing in July 2023.

The first column is seen near the junction of Marsh Road.

This lantern features the same non-standard triangular spigot that my own Gamma 8 has - this was designed to enable the Leader columns and Ashby / Gamma 8 lanterns to be sold as a combined unit.

The second column had had an ASD Micro Highway Diamond LED lantern fitted. I wondered how this had been accomplished, with the triangular spigot not accommodating lanterns with standard circular spigot entries easily. I then noticed that the third column had the variant of the Gamma 8 fitted that was designed for circular spigots, and assumed that the second column must have employed such a lantern too previously.

The triangular column / circular spigot entry looked rather peculiar.

When looking up at the lantern, a circular spigot is seen attached to the triangular profile of the column.
