209B. Elmfield Drive, Emneth, Norfolk With thanks to Dwight for informing me of these Survivors. Installed rather sporadically along this cul-de-sac are three Stanton 10 concrete columns topped with GEC Z5670 lanterns, and a 1980s' Stainton 5 m sheet steel column supporting an ELECO PT 1179, which may have been a replacement for a damaged Stanton 10. None of the lanterns run discharge lamps any longer (they may have been geared to run 35 Watt SOX lamps previously); all have been converted to operate mains voltage LED retro-fit lamps instead.
The first column, one of the Stanton 10s, is located some distance away from Elmfield Drive's junction with Elm High Road.
The close-up view reveals that the clip used in securing the canopy to the rest of the lantern assembly is detached.
The later sheet steel column supporting the PT 1179 had a slight lean to it.
This is likely to be a very late ELECO product, if it was new when the column was installed. It may even have been made by Davis while they were using up old lantern parts.
With the lantern having been converted to run an LED lamp (which requires no external control gear), very little remains in the column base, save for the supply cut-out and the controller for the Royce Thompson P42 two-part photocell dating from 2000. Incidentally, the controller switch is shown to be in 'Test' mode here, as I wasn't sure of what lamp was fitted initially, and flicked the switch to check.
The second concrete column was also leaning slightly, though the third one (not pictured here) was installed within surfaced ground, and so was less likely to move as easily.
The relatively clear bowl is also an indicator of the type of lamp that the lantern may have run previously - had it used a mercury vapour (MBF) lamp, the bowl would have been more discoloured.
