219D. Wordsworth Terrace, Slatefell, Cockermouth, Cumberland, Cumbria With thanks to Dwight for informing me of this Survivor. Installed on this access road behind the terraced houses of Fell View and Windmill Lane is a 1930s' Stanton 2 11 ft (3·35 m) concrete column with GEC top-entry swan neck bracket and later Thorn Beta 5 35 Watt SOX (low pressure sodium) lantern. The elderly column is in quite poor condition, and the lantern (still running a 35 Watt lamp, instead of an LED retro-fit) was operating in daylight when observed in July 2024 - owing to the narrowness of the lane, any sort of maintenance, or indeed, replacement of this installation, must be difficult. Additionally, the light could be under the ownership of the residents if the road carries no formal adoptive status by the Local Authority.

The Stanton 2 column is very rare in the modern era, and this example has probably only survived thanks to the awkwardness in accessing it.

The column is cracking heavily around its top section. The ladder bars are breaking up too.

Judging by the presence of a plastic bag that has been taped around the swan neck's fuse box, I suspect that the original cover has been lost.

A Royce Thompson P42 detector is visible on the Beta 5's canopy; clearly, as the lantern was lit in daylight when pictured, the control relay (likely to be located within the fuse box) has failed.
