225. Rollestone Street, Salisbury, Wiltshire This street is home to two wall-mounted, aluminium-canopied GEC Z9532 35 Watt SOX (low pressure sodium) lanterns, probably dating from the 1970s. Their retention could be thanks to the wall mounting, although this does not normally pose a problem for changing to LED lanterns.
This example is the first from Winchester Street.
The bracket outreaches are deliberately quite lengthy, in an attempt to spread the light output across the road, as well as along it.
This example's Perspex bowl has become so translucent that the lamp cannot be seen within it any longer.
The other example is attached to a building further down, on the opposite side of the road.
A slight silhouette of the lamp is visible with this lantern.
