31E. Addison Street / Addison Terrace, Wednesbury, Sandwell, West Midlands With thanks to Dwight for informing me of these Survivors. Still extant on this cul-de-sac in August 2023 were two Stanton 10F 15 ft (5 m) concrete columns supporting Revo 'Lucidor B' lanterns for 60 Watt SO/H and SOI/H, and 35 Watt SOX, lamps. One of the two installations was likely to be on severely borrowed time when the pictures below were taken, as a replacement column supporting a Philips 'Lumistreet gen2 Micro' BGP 281 LED lantern was installed alongside, and the old column's electricity supply had been transferred into it. The second non-LED column did not have a replacement column installed at the time, however.
The outgoing installation, no longer in use, stands alongside its replacement as it awaits removal.
A length of insulation tape is wrapped around the end of the bracket as a way of holding a cracked piece of concrete in place. Oddly, no form of photocell appears to be fitted to the lantern.
The bowl is grubby, and appears to have a few cracks, but is otherwise intact.
The replacement lantern uses a Telensa radio node for its switching.
Zooming in on the label applied to the rear of the lantern reveals that the power consumption is 23 Watts.
With the electricity supply having been removed, the inspection door has been taken away, revealing a rusted Parmar ballast and a Philips capacitor that only just fits within the base compartment.
Beneath the capacitor, a manufacturing date of December 1972 is stamped on the column's backboard. The witness mark of a Sangamo time switch is visible in this area, although there are no signs of the cut-out, oddly.
The other installation is at the end of Addison Terrace. When pictured, the lantern was day burning.
A small dent is visible towards the rear of the canopy. As this lantern doesn't appear to have a photocell either, perhaps, this column was switched from the now-defunct column above, with the supply cable being made live permanently when transferred to the new column.
