31D. Crankhall Lane, Wednesbury, Sandwell, West Midlands With thanks to Dwight for informing me of this Survivor. Although many Stanton 1808 25 ft (8 m) concrete columns still survived along this road in 2023, very few retained their earlier lanterns; the majority of them supported Philips Lumistreet gen2 LED lanterns by then. One exception was a column supporting a 1980s' Thorn Alpha 1 90 Watt SOX lantern, which still appeared to be in nightly service.
The veteran Alpha 1's golden sodium light must provide a stark contrast to the cool white light emitted by the LED lanterns.
Sadly, the acrylic 'Opticell' lamp housing is damaged, which has caused dirt to gather within it.
