33A. Off Zulla Road, Mapperley Park, Nottingham Situated in a car park behind the Clarendon Court flats is an 8 m tubular steel column supporting a Thorn Alpha 9 90 W SOX lantern, along with two LED floodlights that have replaced the street lighting lantern. A second column in the car park used to feature a double-arm bracket supporting a further two Alpha 9s, but again, LED floodlights have superseded them, and the bracket arms have been cut right back.

The image is taken from the other side of Mansfield Road - I spotted the installation whilst waiting for a bus, and used my camera to zoom in on it, to establish whether it was anything 'interesting' or not!

Zooming in on the installation further reveals that the lantern has had its lamp removed, and has been drilled to accommodate two flexible cables that (presumably) feed the floodlights. The ST7316-type photocell fitted to the Alpha 9's NEMA socket may control the operation of the two floodlights.
