67AB. Ousley Lane, Wootton, Ellastone, East Staffordshire With thanks to AgentHalogen_87 for informing me of this Survivor. Installed near a junction to a farm access is a disused cast iron column with swan neck bracket and no lantern fitted. Such is the remoteness of the location that I wonder how the column ever had a supply (presumably, gas originally, followed by electricity later) - even with it being a private column that is supplied from the farm, this would still require considerable excavation, including installing the pipe or cabling over an adjacent brook.
The column itself is relatively short, although the swan neck increases the overall height slightly.
As the swan neck faces away from the road, it may have rotated on the column spigot if the cap is not secured adequately.
A selection of reducing couplers are fitted to the end of the bracket.
The column's manufacturer is cast into its base; however, owing to the peeling paint, trying to discern the characters is challenging.
The column's design is reminiscent of the type used on railway platforms.
