82D. Kegworth Road / Kingston Lane, Kingston-on-Soar, Rushcliffe, Nottinghamshire With thanks to AgentHalogen_87 for informing me of these Survivors. Installed throughout Kingston-on-Soar village are a number of "heritage" installations, with the majority of these using the same ornate version of the GEC Z5699 that was seen on Riverside Road in West Bridgford. The 4 m tubular steel columns used are similar in appearance to the D.W. Windsor "Chester" pattern, and these lanterns may be a Windsor product too, given that the Warwick and York lanterns made by them shared some components from GEC lanterns. The installations are probably of 1980s' vintage, making them an early example of the "heritage" lighting design.
A selection of columns is seen looking towards Kingston Lane.
As is typical with "heritage" installations, a standard column is adorned with a cast embellishment kit to give it the appearance of an older cast iron column.
The decorative scrollwork around the canopy is highlighted in gold.
This example on Gotham Road is attached to a wooden pole using an ornate post-top bracket.
The bracket could be a Windsor product too.
The adjacent foliage has worn much of this column's paint away.
Two GEC Z5673s mark the entrance to Kegworth Marine on Kingston Lane.
Although also mounted to tubular steel columns, complete with accessible bases, the supply cables enter the lanterns through the lower castings. Compression fixings to seal the cables are not used.
The lamps fitted now appear to be LED 'Corn' types.
