97FA. Cappers Lane, Lichfield, Staffordshire Installed beneath the bridge supporting the A38 dual carriageway are two GEC Z9539s that are attached to the bridge structure itself - these being the gear-in-head, top-entry versions of the basic Z9536 model. Both lanterns run 55 Watt SOX lamps, and indeed, nowadays, the lanterns are lit permanently, owing to the replacement of the column that served as their switching point in late 2011 / early 2012 - the photocell on this column's lantern being configured to operate the under-bridge lights too.
Despite the picture being taken on a sunny July day, the relative gloom beneath the bridge allowed the light output from the lanterns to be visible on the surrounding concrete.
The bowl was missing from the foreground lantern, and had been for some time, judging by the dirt that had accumulated on its interior.
The second bowl was still in place, although it had had to be cable-tied closed.
The same lantern, with a different exposure setting.
