97FC. Witley Drive, Lichfield, Staffordshire Attached to a building belonging to Staffordshire County Council's Highways Division are two Thorn Alpha 7 lanterns, for 250 - 400 Watt mercury vapour (MBF) lamps. These Alpha 7 variants are of the separate lamp control gear type, and so the gear must be housed within the building itself. The current operational status of these lanterns is not known, though fellow collector Claire Pendrous pictured one operating back in 2006.

The two lanterns are positioned either side of a wide roller shutter door.

The wall brackets are functional in appearance, with the cable for each one connected through a steel conduit system.

These examples feature the same type of glass bowl that was used on the AEI Brampton lantern - the forerunner of the Alpha 7 - suggesting that these are early examples.

The aluminium lantern canopies were painted a sage green colour at some point, though this is wearing towards the front of this lantern.

The second lantern is in much the same condition.

Also of note is this narrow Holophane Wallpackette I bulkhead located near the entrance.
