97GD. The Garth, Lichfield, Staffordshire With thanks to Dwight for informing me of this Survivor. Situated on the footpath to Dimbles Lane is a 15 ft (5 m) GEC concrete column supporting a top-entry ELECO HW-505 lantern. Originally intended for 60 Watt SO/H and SOI/H lamps, advances in technology would have seen the lantern fitted with 35 Watt SOX lamps subsequently, with a 26 Watt SOX-E lamp being present now. The column may have survived on account that the footpath is too narrow to be accessed by a maintenance vehicle at one end, and concrete bollards prevent access at the (wider) other end.

The lock on the original GEC door has failed, requiring three cable ties having to be wrapped around the column, in order to hold the door in place.

The HW-505 is in good external condition, with the bowl being undamaged, and remaining transparent.

The original lamp support has failed, however, requiring a length of wire to be used as a makeshift replacement.
