Off Castle Street, Frankwell, Shrewsbury, Shropshire With thanks to LeoLampposts for informing me of this Survivor. Attached to a wall in a small loading area for the adjacent shops by a simple horizontal bracket is a GEC Z8691, for 80 - 125 Watt MBF (mercury vapour) lamps, with the lamp control gear housed within the lantern; thus, simplifying the wiring entering the lantern, and (in the scenario presented here) saving on having to install separate components elsewhere. Where installing separate lamp control gear was more convenient, sister lantern, the Z8896 was ideal.
The presence of modern LED floodlights installed at a lower level suggests that the Z8691 is no longer in use at night.
The lantern's aluminium canopy appears rather dull, suggesting that it hasn't been used for a while, as a warm ballast would prevent quite as much build-up of greenery.
