Off Tollgate Drive, Tollgate Business Park, Hopton and Coton, Stafford With thanks to both AgentHalogen_87 and Leo Conway for informing me of these Survivors. In something of a "sponsored by GEC" scenario, not only are some surviving privately-owned lanterns along this estate, products supplied by GEC; two of the surviving (original?) street lighting lanterns are also. The private lanterns are Z9563s and Z9564s, both for 180 Watt SOX (low pressure sodium) lamps, although the Z9563s offer a cut-off lighting distribution, and the lamp control gear is housed in the lanterns themselves, whereas the Z9564s feature a semi cut-off distribution, and the control gear is mounted remotely. The notable street lighting lanterns comprise Z9454 lanterns, for 90 Watt lamps (or 66 Watt SOX-E lamps, as these examples will run).

Two Z9563s survive; both of which are to be found within the same compound at the far end of the Business Park.

A lamp still exists in this lantern, although the blackening around its electrodes suggests that this has failed.

The size difference between the Z9563 and the Holophane LED lantern on Tollgate Drive itself is very apparent.

The length of the lanterns means that the overall outreach is double the length of the bracket.

The Z9564 is to be found within a compound further up the road.

A small pool of rainwater has gathered in the lowest portion of the bowl.

Whereas the two 180 Watt lanterns were attached to 10 m sheet steel columns, the Z9454s are fitted to 8 m tubular steel columns.

Curiously, a one-part NEMA photocell and a two-part photocell are both visible on the canopy. Judging by the newness of the column structure, this could be a later WRTL MRL 90 instead.

The second Z9454 column is to be found closer to the entrance to Tollgate Drive.

This column and bracket are painted the familiar light mint green that used to be used in the Staffordshire area.

The 66 Watt lamp is plainly visible within the lantern.
