116. New Bath Road, Matlock Bath In the car park of the New Bath Hotel are four Stanton 8 columns supporting Thorn Gamma 3s, each running 250 Watt MBF. Amazingly, these lanterns still work, despite floodlights being added to provide extra illumination to the car park at a later date (the supply cables for the floodlights emerge from the Gamma 3 bowls, and the fixing brackets themselves are fastened to the lanterns' spigot caps!), and even appear to be well maintained, as I spotted a modern Philips ballast in the base of a column with a loose door, alongside an older capacitor.
