Civic Way, Swadlincote Still extant along this road until late 2019 were a number of Stanton 1808 8 m unsleeved concrete columns, with the majority supporting Thorn Alpha 9 90 Watt SOX lanterns (although the lanterns attached to the columns surrounding the Derby Road / Coppice Side / Vicarage Gardens / Church Street roundabout were Thorn Alpha 8s running 150 Watt SON). The columns were all in excellent condition; none showed any signs of spalling around the bracket joint. Thankfully, despite the abundance of Thorn equipment, along with the name of the road, Thorn Civic lanterns were not installed on any of the columns in the vicinity!
