160. Dinting Railway Station, High Peak Attached to the former station building (now split into private residences) by means of two wall brackets is an unknown fluorescent lantern. I had previously thought that this fitting might be a GEC Z8290 lantern, which was frequently used to illuminate railway platforms in the past, and would often carry the station's name on the bowl; however, the fitting seen here appears to be slightly different in design, and so its identity remains a mystery for the time being.

 

It is unknown whether the lantern is still operational.

 

It may be still connected to a supply, however - notice that a length of Mineral Insulated cable terminates into the right-hand wall bracket.
