187. Bypass Road, Tarvin, Chester Situated on a patch of land occupied formerly by a filling station is a short steel pole supporting an integral gear Thorn Alpha 3 lantern. The lantern is unlikely to have worked since the filling station site, and the adjoining Copper Kettle Public House, was redeveloped in the mid-2000s, and quite how it managed to survive the redevelopment is a mystery.

The lantern's (normally unpainted) aluminium canopy appears to have had a coat of paint applied at some point during the lantern's life.

A 250 Watt SON-E or MBF lamp remains within the lantern, waiting for the day when it will be operational once again.
