Thorn EMI 19HS29846/A70
Acquired in October 2009.
This fitting appears to be some sort of display light, although I do not know what application it would be used in - possibly hydroponics, although this is by no means certain.
The fitting is of a trapezoidal shape when viewed from the side. Two notches can be seen along the lower edge; a further two exist on the opposite side to these. I am not sure whether these are intended to support a front cover or whether they simply allow for several of these fittings to be bolted together. A ventilation slat is provided on each face of the fitting.
A carrying handle is provided on top of the fitting - this appears to be the only way of supporting the unit. Two further ventilation slats are located either side of the handle.
The lamp is contained within a very small (and angular) optic. The entire optic can be removed by loosening the two keyhole support screws located at either end. A glass panel prevents the lamp from being touched accidentally - in order to access the lamp, the panel must, obviously, be removed; however, a section of the optic has to lifted up before this can happen.
With the optic removed, the gear can be seen. This is not protected by any additional covers - even with the optic in place, the components can still be accessed. Notice that two cable entry points are provided; presumably, to allow loop in/loop out wiring.
