21k. Tutbury Road, Horninglow, Burton-upon-Trent, Staffordshire. Fitted to three un-sleeved 1980s' Stanton 1810 10 m concrete columns near the junctions of Beamhill Road and Harehedge Lane are GEC Z9554M 135 Watt SOX (91 Watt SOX-E in Staffordshire) lanterns with deep Perspex refractor bowls. The bowls are not original to these lanterns; the deep bowl being an option on the earlier Z9554 lantern only, but because both lantern types are dimensionally identical, the older bowls can be fitted successfully to newer lanterns, creating a very different appearance to when the more common shallower bowl is employed.

The columns are in good condition, with no signs of significant deterioration in the joint between the bracket and the column.

With the bowl backlit by the sun, the position of the lamp within the lantern is apparent.

When viewed from the other side, the clouding on the bowl from years of UV degradation is apparent.

A Zodion SS6 photocell is fitted.

The second column isn't pictured here (it being identical to the first), but the third is seen below.

This close-up reveals a small break in the front of the bowl - unfortunately, Perspex becomes very brittle as it ages, resulting in damage of this nature occurring.
