4m. Meadow Road, Derby City Centre. To quote the title of the Flanagan & Allen song, 'Underneath the Arches' of the bridge supporting St Alkmund's Way are several long-abandoned REAL D3748 60 Watt SLI/H fittings installed in the 1970s when the bridge was constructed. The units are all in a very sorry state - Jeremy managed to rescue the lamps some years ago but could not get hold of the gear as the trays were heavily corroded. Despite this, I now have an example of one in my collection - thanks to Mick Haruk from Derby's street lighting team. The fittings appear to be angled in such a way that they lit up the concrete supports, rather than the footpath below - creating a rather surreal lighting effect!

The fitting pictured in the centre photograph (by the overflow pipe) was the one which was removed for my collection:

The fitting seen in the first picture is shown from a different angle (left), while a fitting missing its bowl is seen a little further along the bridge's underside (right).
