7f. Nottingham Road, Spondon. Rather similar to the situation in Little Eaton, where a concrete column base that had been left when the rest of the column was removed, we now have another surviving column base to detail. In the case of the Little Eaton column, the base was embedded in a wall, which would have complete removal extremely difficult. In this case, there is no obvious reason as to why the stump of a Stanton 8 25 ft column would have been retained when the rest of the column was removed as part of the Derby Street Lighting PFI, though the column is situated within a block paved driveway; perhaps this is significant.

The stump looks somewhat incongruous with the new column, miniature feeder pillar and bus stop signage installed immediately beside it.

Whilst the base compartment is now employed as a makeshift litter bin, a piece of stone has been cemented to the cut section of the column base, perhaps by an enterprising individual who wanted somewhere to sit whilst awaiting the arrival of their bus!

The stump appeared to have been removed by April 2017.
