The following photographs were taken on Sunday, 24th October 2010:
An early 1980s' Thorn Beta 5 was first from Morefern Drive.
A new column was installed at the end of the parking area, while a Thorn Gamma 6 (again from the 1980s) fitted to an unpainted mid-hinged column was set to be removed.
The Gamma 6 was fitted with a Royce Thompson P5 cell - this may have been the lantern's original cell.
Another Gamma 6 was installed on the corner of the footpath. The lantern's bowl looked to have been used for airgun target practice at some point. A 1990s' Sirebeck S300 photocell was fitted to this lantern.
A third Gamma 6 was visible on the short footpath leading to the bottom of Morefern Drive. Another photocell from the 1990s, a Hy-Lite HL4N, was fitted to this lantern.
The sun's reflection off the grass caused the Iridium's chassis to appear with a slight green hue.
A final new column was installed a short distance away from the damaged Gamma 6 pictured above - this column position was far more suitable than the column that had previously lit this area had been...
Yes, the final column on this section was surrounded (read 'engulfed') by a large evergreen tree! Of course, when this column was installed, the tree was probably only a small shrub, but with the passage of time, it has filled out considerably; virtually blocking all light emitted from the Gamma 6.
This isn't just a picture of some random foliage - this is about as visible as the lantern could hope to be amongst the evergreen leaves! Can you see it?
