The following photographs were taken on the 4th April 2010 - Easter Sunday. The outgoing roadway columns here dated from the late 1990s and supported deep-bowl Thorn Beta 5 lanterns. Previously, columns fitted with GEC Z9532 lanterns were installed, however, I do not know why they were all replaced. The outgoing columns had all been removed by Friday, 23rd April 2010.
The outgoing columns were all made by CU Phosco.
A 5 m base-hinged column supporting a GEC Z5698U links Skiddaw Drive with Hindscarth Crescent. The reason that the road is parked-up here is that there is no vehicular access to Hindscarth Crescent due to the placement of concrete bollards. Perhaps the original intention was to make Skiddaw Drive a through-road, but this idea was dropped late in the planning process; hence the use of the hinged column. Notice the barriered-off hole awaiting the installation of a new column.
An identical column setup was present on the footpath to Blencathra Drive.
