Local Urbis ZX1s
The ZX1 is a very rare lantern in Derbyshire; its public road use largely being confined to the A511 High Street in Woodville, where examples were retro-fitted to sleeved Stanton 8 concrete columns in the late 1990s, in the days when this was a trunk road.
The lanterns all run 150 Watt SON-T lamps.
The lanterns feature curved bowls.
Many of the lanterns are still fitted with their original Royce Thompson Oasis 2000 photocells.
This 70 Watt example exists on a footpath that runs adjacent the A52 in Spondon. The column (a 5 m Abacus base-hinged type) is owned by the Highways Agency, although it may have been maintained by the City Council for a while as a Thorn Beta 5 35 Watt SOX lantern was installed on this column for a time, and a Thorn Riviera 1 prior to that.
The canopy was originally dark grey, as the above examples are; however, this has faded in the sunlight.
