21l. Church Hill Street, Winshill, Burton-upon-Trent, Staffordshire. Situated just before the road becomes Bearwood Hill Road is an un-sleeved 25 ft (8 m) GEC concrete column supporting a WRTL 2600 100 Watt SON-T lantern. This is the last remaining GEC concrete column on the road; the rest having been replaced in 2009 as part of Staffordshire's Street Lighting PFI. Why this column was missed is unknown, but at least, it adds a spot of variety to the street scene. The 2600s were, of course, not the original lanterns for these columns - they were fitted in the 1990s in place of 1950s' GEC 90 Watt SOX lanterns, possibly Z9450s.
A well-established conifer hedge obscures a large portion of the column.
Thankfully, the leaves had not obscured the distinctive cranked outreach bracket when pictured in March 2020.
The 2600 features a rather weathered GRP canopy, and yellowed refractor bowl.
The structure is in good condition - there are no signs of spalling anywhere on the concrete.
The original GEC door remains in place, albeit, showing signs of rusting around the edges.
