113DD. Holyoake Terrace, Long Buckby, Northamptonshire With thanks to Dwight for informing me of these Survivors. Attached to a wooden pole is an AC Ford bracket supporting an ELECO 'Welwyn' top-entry open lantern, which was running an 80 Watt MBF (mercury vapour) lamp when pictured in November 2023. Appropriately, this version of the Welwyn made its first appearance in catalogues in 1953, making the design 70 years old when pictured (although this version may be slightly newer than this, though I wouldn't think by many years). Also of note is a lengthy corner bracket installed on a property at the start of the street, which supports a 1980s' Thorn Beta 5 lantern.
As well as providing a means of supporting the street light at this location, the wooden pole also carries the overhead electricity supplies for the adjacent properties.
A short outreach AC Ford pole bracket with an inline miniature fuse box supports the lantern.
A 1980s' Royce Thompson P5 photocell switches the lantern as appropriate - this may be original to when the installation was converted from time switch control.
The OSRAM lamp was made at the company's Foshan (China) facility in August 2008 (date code: f888).
The Beta 5 is located a short distance away. I can't help thinking that the angle at which it is positioned, along with the relatively short outreach, would reduce its effectiveness at illuminating the junction rather substantially.
The lantern is fitted with a retro-fit LED lamp as a substitute for the original 35 Watt SOX lamp.
While it may be fitted with a modern lamp, the Beta 5 still exhibits a common issue with this version of the lantern, which can make them about as watertight as a colander!
